Sites dot TAMU was started by the College of Liberal Arts to allow our community to easily create and manage websites themselves. A web presence has become an essential part of almost everything our college does, and it is essential that the process to getting online be as quick and painless as possible – for both IT and the content publishers.
This service is based on WordPress, which has become the largest content management platform in use on the internet. It’s really easy to learn and use by itself, but its popularity has resulted in an almost endless supply of tutorials, videos, and how-tos to be published all over the internet if you need help getting started. IT has also published some example websites and getting started guides that are relevant to the themes installed within this service.
College of Liberal Arts IT provides the server infrastructure, administration, and programming to run this service at no charge to the college community. It is run alongside the college’s own websites which are also powered by WordPress. Industry standard practices have been followed to provide enterprise-class, stable systems which will result in high amounts of uptime.
